Stewardship Corner
But seriously folks... Before taking the offering, the minister announced that the
church had several unexpected expenses in the last month. She encouraged everyone
to make a significant offering that morning and, as extra incentive, she said that
whoever gave the most that day would get to pick three hymns. When the ushers brought
the offering forward there was a five hundred dollar bill on the top of the plate.
The minister asked the donor to please come forward. After a brief pause, an older
woman came forward absolutely beaming. The minister thanked her profusely and then
reminded her that she was entitled to pick three hymns. Without hesitation the woman
pointed at three handsome young men and said, "I pick him, and him, and him."
Coming Soon... More personal reflections on the ministries of St. Mike's
and a Pledge Party on Dec. 5th! All welcome.
October 24, 2010: Some words to reflect upon...
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Luke 12:34)
And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always
having enough of everything, you share abundantly in every good work. (2
Corinthians 9:8)
God’s incredible generosity is the basis for any call for generous giving on the
part of God’s people. We can’t out give God. As Christians, one of our key faith
statements must be that we will always have enough, because God provides us with
all we need. Because God has blessed us so generously, we can, and must, give generously
to others, especially those in need.
Coming Soon… Pledge forms will be arriving in your mailboxes before the end of October.
October 17, 2010: But seriously folks... Did you hear the one about the confused
parishioner? For years she contributed generously to her parish's stewardship
campaign. Finally, one day she stood up and asked, "who is this Stewart guy
and when will he be finished building that boat of his?"
Got questions about stewardship at St. Mike's? Ask us! We are not building a
boat but we are building a caring and generous community. Giving generously puts
wind in your sails!
Coming soon... Personal reflections on our parish ministries and more.
October 10, 2010: Did you Know?
PAR stands for Pre-Authorized Remittance. PAR is a simple, convenient, and reliable
method of donating to St Michael and All Angels. Your monthly donation amount will
be automatically debited from your bank account on the 20th of each month and St
Michael and All Angels' church account credited with your donation. With PAR
you can still continue to designate your givings to specific outreach ministries
or to the Church's general fund and your givings are included in tax receipts.
No fuss and no missed givings!
Coming Soon... More personal reflections on St. Michael and All Angels' ministries
